DNREC has scanned all contaminated sites files maintained by Site Investigation and Restoration Branch (SIRB) and made them available to public over the Internet. SIRB makes every attempt to keep the online files current. SIRB has scanned over a million pages of documents so far.
Please print this page and use the following guidelines while searching for a document:
1. Click "Go To Site File Viewing System" button at the bottom of this page.
2. The primary ways to search for files are the Cascade Search or Simple Find options. The Cascade Search works like Windows Explorer. It brings up a list of all of the sites, and you can scroll down to the site of your choice, and choose subfolders within that site. The Simple Find option lets you look for specific files for one site.
3. Cascade Search: Scroll down to a site that you wish to view. Click on
the
icon to the left of the site name. The subfolders will then appear. Then
click the
icon. Then click the
icon, then the
icon. If the folders contain
documents for viewing, data will appear in the right hand window. Click on the
button. The document will then appear. To view another document, click your
browser’s “Back” button. Clicking Exit will take you completely out of the
application. If there are no documents under a subfolder, you will not be able
to click down beyond the
icon. Click
here to download detailed instructions.
4. Simple Find: Start by clicking the drop down box of Site/Categ:. The files are currently sorted by DE number. (If you don’t know the DE number of the site, use the Cascade option first to find the number. The sites are sorted by name. The DE number will be listed after the site’s name). After choosing the site name, click the “Go” button. This will list all of the documents for the site. If you wish to view a subset of the documents, you can use the other drop down boxes to specify Draft/Final copy or Document type. If you’d like to specify dates, or an Author, those fields don’t have drop down boxes but can be filled in manually. These fields can also use the % sign as a wildcard. So if you wanted to find a document by John Smith, you can type %Smith. All documents with Smith as the last name would then appear. For the date field, typing %/03 would give you all documents from 2003. Typing 05/%/03 would give you all documents from May 2003.
* All the file images are in TIFF format. You need a TIFF viewer such as
"Imaging for Windows" to view the files.
For Windows 9x and Windows NT platforms: Imaging for Windows is an
accessory in Microsoft Windows from Windows 95 through Windows 2000.
For Windows XP and Vista platforms: Download a free tiff viewer from
AlternaTIFF website:
http://www.alternatiff.com. (AlternaTIFF is a web browser add-on that
displays most of the common types of TIFF image files.) Click
here for instructions on
downloading and installing the Tiff viewer into Internet Explorer.
